I have so many world class international students that are very hungry for American professional work experiences (i.e., internships) & they are often told by employers: we do not hire international students. Why?

I have so many world class international students that are very hungry for American professional work experiences (i.e., internships) & they are often told by employers: we do not hire international students. Why? The paperwork? There is none for an international student if they are here legally (i.e., they are given a SS# w/ their student visa). I get it, it is complicated. Some do not have STEM degrees, so there...

Reminder: Effective in Feb 2023, CPIM will be reconfigured under version 8.0 moving from 2 courses & 2 exams to 1. Students: 3 supply chain orgs you can join (ISMworld.org-$35, CSCMP.org, $40 & ASCM.org for free!). SCM pros w/ at least 1 APICS cert have a median salary of $90K, which is 27% higher than those w/o a cert. (according to the 2021 Career Report).

Well, that darn MBA degree still has a great ROI…“Over their lifetime, an MBA grad can expect to earn $3M more than someone w/ only a bachelor’s.” Great ROI!?…At about 98% of universities that offer MBAs, grads typically made more money 2 years out of school than they had borrowed. That stands in contrast to law schools, where roughly 6% of programs had grads w/ higher median earnings than debt in the same time frame.

So, America has > 10M vacant jobs, but it also has 7M unemployed young men that are not looking for work, & they spend 2,000 hours/yr behind a screen. Isn’t 2K hrs/yr like a real full-time job? Ugh. My students are getting worried about the job market because they are hearing about this recession. Yes, recessions tend to be VERY bad for college grads. However…
